In the United States, headmasters and teachers discipline (惩罚) students in several ways. The teacher often writes to or calls the students’ parents. Sometimes students have to stay at school for one hour. If a student behaves very badly, the headmaster can stop the student having classes. The student can’t come to school for one, two or three days. Mr. Lazarus, the headmaster of a middle school in Ohio, did not like to do so. When he didn’t let the students come to school, they were happy. “A three-day holiday!” they thought.
One day, a boy was in Mr. Lazarus’ office. The boy was not behaving well in class. Mr. Lazarus telephoned the boy’s parents. “If you come to school with your son, I won’t stop him having classes,"he said. The boy’s father came to school and went with his son to every class. Other students looked at the boy and his father. The boy was embarrassed. After that he behaved better. And, of course, other students behaved better, too.
Now headmasters all over the USA are trying Mr. Lazarus’s idea. They too, think that students behave better when parents come to school.
61. What does a headmaster usually do to the student if he behaves very badly?

One of my favourite memories as a child is going by the river and sitting freely on the bank. There I would enjoy the peace and quiet, watch the water rush down and hear the sound of falling leaves.
When I think about the bamboo tree’s ability to return to its original position, the word “resilience” comes to mind. When used to describe a person, this word means the ability to become well again from shock, disappointment or any other situation that makes somebody unhappy.
Have you ever felt you are about to break with a sudden noise? Have you ever felt you are at your breaking point? Thankfully, you are lucky to have the experience to live to talk about it.
Life is a mixture of good times and bad times, happy moments and unhappy moments. Next time you are experiencing one of those bad times or unhappy moments that take you close to your breaking point, don’t break. Try your best not to let the situation get the best of (占上风) you.
Hopes will take you through the unpleasant experience. With hopes for a better tomorrow or a better situation, things may not be as bad as they seem to be. The unpleasant experience may be easier to deal with if the end result is worth having.
If you are at your breaking point, you should be like the bamboo tree, bend, but don’t break!
66. The writer was moved by ___________ one day when he went to sit by the river.
A. the water B. the bamboo tree C. the leaves
67. What does the underlined word “resilience” mean? It means ___________ .
A. 恢复力 B. 兴奋 C. 忧伤
68. What did the writer use to do when he was young?
A. He used to go to the park to hear the sound of falling leaves.
B. He used to go to the lake and watch the water.
C. He used to go by the river and sit on the bank.
69. Next time you experience one of those bad things, try your best ______ get the best of you.
A. to let the situation B. not to let the situation C. to change the situation to
70. What can we learn from the passage?
A. We should bend when we hear a sudden noise.
B. We should go by the river and sit freely on the bank.
C. We should have the ability to become well again.

Cosplay is great!
Cosplay is short for “costume play”, which means play-acting in costumes. People who take part in cosplay are called cosplayers. They usually create or make costumes of their favorite animation characters (动漫人物) by themselves or get a tailor (裁缝) to make them. Sometimes they even prepare small things, like knives and earrings, which the characters wear or use in the animation.
Cosplayers are creative(富有创造性的) and proud of their work. They spend a lot of money and energy on it. They not only dress up as their favorite characters in the animation, but also act like the characters.
New trend (趋势) is on!
While Chinese fans are busy cosplaying characters in Japanese animations or movies, Japan, as a big country of cosplay, now has a trend to cosplay non-Japanese movie characters. Japanese cosplayers like the characters in Star Wars and Lord of the Rings very much. But the most popular ones are from the Harry Potter films. They have a very large number of fans in Japan. The character who is liked the best by Japanese cosplayers in Harry Potter films is Draco Malfoy, though he is Harry’s rival(对手) and always tries to get Harry and his friends into trouble.
Cosplay doesn’t have anything to do with age. Whether you are 5 or 50 years old, you can be a cosplayer if you are creative enough!
71. We can infer (推断) that those who like to do cosplay must be ______ fans, too.

Text B
Dear Dr. Know,
I’m not happy. My father made some new rules because I got bad grades in the last English test. From now on, I have to practice English from 6:30 to 7:00 every morning. I can’t play with others after school. I’m not allowed to watch TV on school nights. I have to be bed as soon as I finish my homework. On weekends, I have to do some extra English reading, and I have to help my mother do housework. Later, I have to go to Children’s Palace to practice the violin! I’ll lose all my friends. What can I do?
