American treasure hunters have made a huge find beneath the rolling waves of the Atlantic Ocean. The explorers, from a company called Odyssey Marine Exploration, found the sunken remains of a centuries-old treasure ship they have nicknamed the Black Swan. Divers have so far brought up more than 500,000 gold and silver coins from the wreck.
Odyssey Marine Exploration is based in Tampa, Florida. The company makes money by selling treasure to numismatists(银币奖章收藏家) and other collectors. But before Odyssey can profit from the incredible coin discovery, it has to establish ownership of the coins. Already, the government of Spain has claimed that the ship may have belonged to Spain. If so, Spain says the coins belong to Spain, not Odyssey Marine Exploration. Odyssey has yet to release the type, date, or nationality of the coins. And it won't reveal the location of the shipwreck either.
The company is keeping the treasure at a secret location in the United States. Experts say it is hard to know for sure how much money the treasure is worth. Some reports suggest that it could be worth as much as $500 million! If so, the Black Swan would be the most valuable shipwreck ever found. Odyssey says there are still artifacts (古董) down with the wreck.
John Morris, one of the founders of Odyssey, says the company is working to figure out more about the Black Swan. Two archeologists oversaw the recovery of the treasure. "Our research suggests that there were a number of Colonial period shipwrecks that were lost in the area where this site is located," Morris said in a press release. The company is not saying if they know the true identity of the ship. Some news reports have suggested that the Black Swan could actually be the Merchant Royal, a British ship that sunk in 1641 with thousands of pounds of gold and silver, many of which were Spanish coins.
Morris said that Odyssey would share part of the loot if courts decide that other countries, such as Spain or Britain, have a legal claim to it. In the meantime, Odyssey plans to return to the wreck to recover even more artifacts and riches.
59. According to the article, what is Black Swan?
A. The name given to a sunken ship found by Odyssey.

D. The exploration ship owned by Odyssey.

A. more shipwrecks could be found in the area where they found the treasure
B. the shipwreck could be the Merchant Royal

D. The shipwreck is an ancient British ship
62. Which is the best title to the article? ___________

(C)
I’m usually fairly sceptical about any research that concludes that people are either happier or unhappier or more or less certain of themselves than they were 50 years ago. While any of these statements might be true, they are practically impossible to prove scientifically. Still, I was struck by a report which concluded that today’s children are significantly more anxious than children in the 1950s. In fact, the analysis showed normal children aged 9 to 17 exhibit a higher level of anxiety today than children who were treated for mental illness 50 years ago.
Why are America’s kids so stressed? The report cites two main causes: increasing physical isolation(隔离)brought on by high divorce rates and less involvement in community, among other things and a growing perception that the world is a more dangerous place.
Considering that we can’t turn the clock back, adults can still do plenty to help the next generation cope(应付).
At the top of the list is nurturing(培养)a better appreciation of the limits of individualism. No child is an island. Strengthening social ties help build communities and protect individuals against stress.
To help kids build stronger connections with others, you can pull the plug on TVs and computers. Your family will thank you later. They will have more time for face-to-face relationships, and they will get more sleep.
Limit the amount of virtual(虚拟)violence your children are expected to. It’s not just from video games and movies; children see a lot of murder and crime on the local news.
Keep your expectations for your daily routine. It will help you cope with your own anxiety and provide a good model for your kids. Sometimes anxiety is unavoidable. But it doesn’t have to ruin your life.
63. The author thinks that the conclusions of any research about people’s state of mind are ________.
A. surprising B. confusing C. illogical D. questionable
64. What does the author mean by saying “we can’t turn the clock back” (Para 3)?
A. It’s impossible to slow down the pace of change.
B. The social reality children are facing can’t be changed.
C. Lessons learned from the past should not be forgotten.
D. It’s impossible to forget the past.
65. According to the analysis, compared with normal children today, children treated as mentally ill 50 years ago_______.
A. probably suffered less from anxiety
B. were probably less self-centered
C. were considered isolated physical
D. were considered less individualistic
66. The first and most important thing parents should do to help their children is _______.
A. to provide them with a safer environment
B. to lower their expectations for them
C. to get them more involved socially
D. to set a good model for them to follow
67. Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?
A. Sometimes local news about murder and crime also affects children a little.
B. TVs and computers play an important role in isolating children from the real world.
C. To children, anxiety is completely avoidable.
D. Exercise does not help to lessen children’s anxiety.

Shundagarh is a village on India’s east-facing coast. It is a village of simple mud and grass houses built on the beach just above the waterline. The Khadra Hills rise immediately behind the village, to a height of one hundred and fifty meters. A simple, good-hearted old man, whose name was Jalpur, farmed two small fields on the very edge of these hills. From his fields he could see the fishing boats traveling up and down the coast. He could see the children playing on the sand; their mothers washing clothes on the flat stones where the Shiva River flowed into the sea; and their fathers landing the latest catch or repairing nets and telling stories that had no end.
All Jalpur owned in the world were the clothes he wore day in and day out, the miserable hut that he slept in at night, a few tools and cooking pots—and his fields. The corn that he grew was all that made life possible. If the weather was kind and the harvest was good, Jalpur could live happily enough—not well, but happily. When the sun was fierce, and there was little or no rain, then he came close to the line between life and death.
Last year the weather had been so kind, and the harvest promised to be good, that Jalpur had been wondering whether he could sell all that he had and live with his son farther up the coast. He had been thinking about doing this for some years. It was his dearest wish to spend his last days with his son and his wife. But he would go only if he could give; he would not go if it meant taking food out of the mouths of his grandchildren. He would rather die than do this.
On the day when Jalpur decided that he would harvest his corn, sell it, and move up the coast, he looked out to sea and saw a huge wave, several kilometers out, advancing on the coast and on the village of Shundagarh. Within ten minutes everyone in Shundagarh would be drowned. Jalpur would have shouted, but the people were too far away to hear. He would have run down the hill, but he was too old to run. He was prepared to do anything to save the people of Shundagarh, so he did the only thing that he could do: he set fire to his corn. In a matter of seconds the flames were rising high and the smoke was rising higher. Within a minute the people of Shundagarh were racing up the hill to see what had happened. There, in the middle of his blackened cornfield, they found Jalpur; and there they buried him. On his grave, they wrote the words: Here lies Jalpur, a man who gave, living ; a man who dies, giving.
68. Which of the following could Jalpur NOT see from his fields?
A. Mothers washing clothes.
B. Fathers taking their corn to market.
C. Fishing boats traveling on the sea.
D. Children playing on the sands.
69. What did Jalpur do when he saw the huge wave?
A. He set his corn on fire so the people of Shundagarh would leave the beach.
B. He screamed loudly to get the villagers’ attention.
C. He ran down the hill to tell the people.
D. He stood still, not knowing what to do.
70. The villagers were thankful to Jalpur because he had ________.
A. given his life in order to save theirs
B. saved their village from being drowned by the wave
C. given them his corn in order to save them from hunger
D. done everything to the villagers
