Most young people enjoy some forms of physical activity. It may be walking, cycling or swimming, or in winter, skating or skiing; it may be a game of some kind-- football, golf, or tennis, it may be mountaineering (登山运动).
Those who are fond of climbing high and difficult mountains are often looked upon with astonishment. Why are men and women willing to suffer cold and hardship, and to take risks in high mountains? This astonishment is caused, probably, by the difference between mountaineering and other forms of activity to which people give their leisure.
Mountaineering is not a game. There are no man-made rules, as there are for such games as golf and football. There are, of course, rules of a different kind which it would be dangerous to ignore, but it is this freedom from man-made rules that makes mountaineering attractive to many people. Those who climb mountains are free to use their own methods.
If we compare mountaineering with other more familiar sports, we might think that one big difference is that mountaineering is not a "team game". There are, it is true, no "matches" between "teams" of climbers, but when climbers are linked by a rope on which their lives may depend, there is obviously teamwork.

Break Your Bad Mood
Having one of those days or weeks--when everything seems to annoy you.? Even if you do nothing about it, your bad mood will probably go away after some time. But with a little effort, you can forget it much faster ----often within a day or two.
Walk it off
Exercise is the most popular bad-mood buster. A person who's in a bad mood has low energy and high tension. Taking a fast ten-minute walk, or doing some quick exercise can do wonders towards changing that bad mood.
Tune it out
Listening to your favorite music for a while can also make tension go away quickly, because music starts associations with past positive experiences we've had. Give yourself a pep talk
Stop and listen to what's on your mind. Bad moods are often started by too many negative thoughts. Write them all down on paper---the pessimistic (悲观的 )messages you've been giving yourself and then give optimistic answers. ("I still don't have a job. "Vs "I have two interviews next week. ")
Reduce your stress
Relaxation techniques are wonderful mood lifters. These include deep breathing, stretching and visualizing (想像), all of which sound complicated but aren't. One easy way to visualize: close your eyes and picture a favorite place, such as the beach. Another simple way to be against distress(痛苦) is to make a to-do list. One reason for being in a bad mood is feeling you have no options. By taking control over certain areas, you realize you' re not helpless. You can make changes in your mood and life.
Avoid things that won't improve your mood
TV may not help much: You need to increase your energy level and stimulate your mind---something that TV show "Neighbors" won't do. And before you reach for that piece of cake and coffee, think about how mood and food are linked. Sugar and caffeine contribute to depressed moods. A better choice? Research shows that carbohydrates, such as potatoes and pasta(意大利面食), produce a calming effect on people who have a desire for them.
64. We learn from the text that it might help rid us of a bad mood______.
A. to do nothing about it B. to take a long walk on the beach
C. to do some exercise with light music D. to talk about it to neighbors
65. Why is it suggested that you close your eyes and picture the beach?
A. It is not complicated to do so.
B. It is an area which can be easily controlled.
C. It helps beat a bad mood. D. It brings us a new technique.
66. TV may not improve your mood because ___
A. it sometimes shows what happens around you
B. it keeps you sitting without moving
C. it reminds you of eating and drinking
D. it produces a calming effect
67. This text most probably appears in ____
A. a book on physical exercises B. a doctor's handbook
C. a notice D. a magazine
(D)
Clothing is a language. It tells us about individual people: their personality, their age, their place in society and so on. If we want to know more about a society, we can look at traditional clothing.
The continent of Africa has a long history and a rich culture, and this is shown in traditional dress. You often find three colours---red, gold and green--in the clothing. The first colour stands for the blood of millions of people who suffered as slaves; the second is for the rich resources of the African earth; and the third represents the grasslands of home.
The patterns on the clothing also have a meaning. A common pattern is in the form of a cross"X", which stands for "unity". Another pattern is a rectangular (长方形的) box, which represents "strength". Because clothing has a strong social meaning, people are very careful in choosing what to wear. It would be a serious mistake to wear the wrong clothing, or to wear clothes in the wrong way. For instance, in Ghana, a woman should wear her waistband differently according to the importance of the social event.
Traditional dress also tells us about everyday life. African designs are famous. Wide temperature range requires that the clothes be comfortable for daily life.
Although many people wear Western clothes, particularly in the big cities in Africa, traditional African dress is very highly valued. This is because it has deep cultural meanings.

About 90 percent of Chinese believe the polarization (分化) between the rich and poor is" serious" in China, according to a survey conducted by China Youth Daily. And more than 80 percent of the respondents (对象) surveyed said something must be done to narrow the expanding gap between the rich and poor, while 14. 1 percent said it was unnecessary.
The polarization has aroused wide concern among the public in recent years. The State Development and Reform Commission ( 国家发改委 ) said the Gini Coefficient had reached 0. 47 for China, up from 0. 29 two decades ago. Usually, a country with a number above 0. 4 is warned to pay more attention to the income inequality problem.
To find out the people's view, the survey covered 10,250 respondents, between the ages of 20 and 30 with a college education and a monthly salary between 1,000 and 3,000 yuan. Surprisingly, most disagreed with the view of experts who claim the urban-rural difference is causing the widening gap. More than 70 percent of the respondents believed that "the group of special interests "is the prime reason for the polarization, followed by "people in power" 68 percent, and "bosses" 50 percent.
Another unexpected finding almost all agreed that a good educational background and knowledge were not the decisive factors in gaining wealth. About 95 percent said rich people are not necessarily those who are able to speak English or have a college education.
Today in China, rich people, accounting for 10 percent of the population, control 45 percent of the total social fortune, and poor people, also 10 percent of the population, only control 1. 5 percent, according to an investigation published by the National Bureau of Statistics last June.
72. It can be inferred that the Gini Coefficient (in paragraph 2)would probably be
A. a unit used in advanced mathematics
B. the degree of a country's development
C. the level of the citizen's living standard
D. a measure of income inequality
73. Experts hold the view that the main reason for the polarization is
A. the urban rural difference B. the group of special interests
C. the people in power D. the bosses
74. Which of the following can show the correct proportion of the social fortune among population?
75. What's the best title of the passage?
A. Close the Gap between the Rich and Poor
