I. Warm up
Task1: Read the new words together, then check in groups.
Task2: 1. Finish 1a, match the words with the pictures.
2. Brainstorm with other reasons that you decline other’s invitation.

II. Pre—task:
Task1: If you are going to have a party, please make an invitation in your groups.
e.g. S1: Can you come to my birthday?
S2: Sure, I’d love to.
S3: Sure, I’d love to.
S4: Sorry, I can’t. I have to study for a test.
Task2: Check your listening and memory:
According to the conversation above. Talk about if other students in your group come to the party. (Pair work)
e.g. A: Can he/she/they come to the birthday?
B: Yes, he/she/they can.
/ No, he/she/they can’t. He/She has to.../ They...

III. While—task
Task1: 1b: Listen to the tape and write the names.
Listen again and repeat the listening text.
1c: Group work Make a conversation according to the picture.
Task2:

2a: Listen and circle“can”or“can’t”

2b: Listen again and number the reasons why people can’t go

to the party. Listen again and repeat the listening text.
2c: Write some more reasons and make a conversation in pairs:

eg. A: Dave, can you go to the movies on Saturday?
B: I’m sorry. I can’t. I have too much homework this weekend. A: That’s too bad. Maybe another time.

课后反思
本节课任务提升环节的任务设计紧承2a2b听力内容,连贯性较好,算是个很好的听力提升,但是对整个一节课而言,话题的开放性和拓展性还不够好,所以感觉本节课并没有实现应该达到的高度。以后还要继续抓好教学设计。
