阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中,选出最佳选项。
AYou are entering a world far different from the one my generation entered. My generation grew up with no MTV, no college loan deadbeats(赖帐的人), no $175 sneakers(软底鞋), no underwear worn in public and very little jewelry worn on the tongue. Yet somehow we broke through and, achieved all these things, and more. I believe that your generation is far more humane and caring than my own. You ask questions :“What is the meaning of life?” “How can I make a fortune with almost no money down?” “Why do we have to sit round in the hot sun listening to a commencement speech? ” I do not recall who it was who spoke at my own graduation. Whoever it was, I know I looked to him for wisdom and guidance, just as you now look to me. I suppose if there is one single message I’d like to leave with you, it is this: concentrate(集中精力) on what you are doing.
If you do it well, you will be successful, unless you are trying to eliminate(消除) the federal deficit(赤字) or establish an indoor smoking zone.
Act daringly. Do not fear making mistakes; though if you make one, look out.
Make a contribution. Even though 70 percent of you will be lawyers, still I say to you: Try to do something useful with your life, if only in your spare time.
In a very real sense, your graduation here today is not an ending but a commencement, a beginning. If I may say so, this is, in fact, the first day of the rest of your lives. I realize it is a bit shocking to look at graduation this way., but I believe we must. Thank you, and lots of luck. You’ll need it.

CShui Junyi. the well-known TV reporter, left Baghdad on March 19, a day before the US-led war against Iraq broke out. But, he returned on March 26. Now, as things heat up, it is uncertain at this time just where he will be reporting from. Shui was one of the reporters traveling alone in Iraq. These journalists are not among the more than 500 who are “embedded”(植入的) with US or British troops. The Pentagon(美国五角大楼) in Washington has tried to discourage such risky reporting, saying it is too dangerous. However, the journalists say “No” because they want to get a different side of the story. They say they especially hope to give a true report on what is in the mind of ordinary Iraqi people and the results of the shooting and bombing. “If you are embedded, you are surrounded by troops. You can’t talk to those ordinary people because they are running away from you,” said an Australian reporter. But these reporters have to face many more dangers than the embedded journalists. For example, there is a greater risk of being attacked by Iraqis, being mistakenly fired upon by troops or getting caught in crossfire(交火). Already, six journalists have been killed or are reported missing and believed killed in this war. All of them were non-embedded, including a 51-year-old British journalist and a 39-year-old Australian. Both died while working on March 22. Reporters Without Borders, an organization that defends the interests of journalists around the world, was shocked to learn of the deaths. General secretary(秘书长)Robert Monard said these men have paid a high price for their willingness to fully on the war in Iraq. The search for true news is a necessary battle to ensure that world reporting can be free of bias(偏见). During the 1991 Gulf War, four journalists killed. The latest deaths add to a long list of journalists killed while doing their jobs. Between 1992 and 2002, more than 500 journalists were killed throughout the world, almost half of them in war-torn areas. 64. The US-led war against Iraq broke out on . A. March 19 B. March 26 C. DMy topic is fashion(时装), and to make my talk more lively. I have brought along five objects. Fashion is important to all of us. Now we are wearing school uniforms(校服). When we go home, what do we do? We change into other clothes. If we are going out, we like to wear fashionable clothes. So my first object is this blouse. It looks beautiful, doesn’t it? It is my most expensive piece of clothing, and I love it. It cost over $ 600. You may say that it is too expensive, but luckily I can afford it. The more you spend, the better quality. So you see, fashion is quite important to me, I admit it. However, I’m not as fond of fashion as my elder brother. Last summer, my parents took us both to London. They wanted to show us some famous sights. But my brother Gary did not appreciate the old buildings. He just wanted to spend all his time in the big shopping arcades(拱廊市场), searching for the coolest pair of trousers! For him, fashion was more important than culture. These are the trousers he bought. Were they worth the expense of a trip to London to buy these? I don’t think so. I think it was a waste of time and money. We must, however, remember that fashion is a very big business. Changes in fashion can create or lose jobs. As an example, I have brought this blonde(淡黄色的) wig(假发) to show you. Do you like it? It belongs to one of my mother’s friends. She told me that in the 1960s, it was fashionable for Western women to wear wigs. But a few years later fashions changed and women wore wigs much less often. Then the wig factories closed down and hundreds of workers lost their jobs. 68. The writer is at the moment. The higher the price is, the better the quality is. 71. What does the author want to tell us in the last paragraph? A. Wigs were always popular in the past. B. People in the east once liked wearing blonde wigs. C. Fashion is actually a business. D. Business often depends on the production of wigs.

Maybe that sausage was bad(变质的)…” She suddenly remembered her husband’s lunch. She ran to the telephone and called Jim at his office.” “Jim, I hope you haven’t eaten any of those sandwiches yet.” “You have? Two? Well, listen-don’t eat any more, I have Henry the last sausage, and now he’s ill. Go to the doctor, Jim?” “What? You feel all right? No, Jim, don’t take a chance with your health. Get some medicine.” Jim came back at lunch time and went to bed. “I had a very unpleasant hour at the doctor’s,” he told Joyce, “and the medicine made me very sick.” The next morning Jim was fine.
