Most dog owners feel that their dogs are their best friends. Almost everyone likes dogs because they try hard to please their owners. One of my favorite stories is about a dog who wanted his owner to please him. One of my friends has a large German shepherd ( 牧羊狗) named Jack. Every Sunday afternoon, my friend takes Jack for a walk in the park. Jack likes these long walks very much. One Sunday afternoon, a young man came to visit my friend. He stayed a long time, and he talked and talked. Soon it was time for my friend to take Jack for his walk, but the visitor didn’t leave. Jack became very worried about his walk in the park. He walked around the room several times and then sat down directly in front of the visitor and looked at him. But the visitor paid no attention. He continued talking. Finally, Jack couldn’t stand it any longer. He went out of the room and came back a few minutes later. He sat down again in front of the visitor, but this time he held the man’s hat in his mouth. German shepherds aren’t the only intelligent dogs. Another intelligent dog is a Seeing Eye dog. This is a special dog which helps blind people walk along the streets and do many other things. We call these dogs Seeing Eye dogs because they are the “eye” of the blind people and they help them to “see”. Seeing Eye dogs generally go to special schools for several years to learn to help blind people. 46. The writer tells the story about the dog Jack to show that____. A. it, like many other dogs, always tried to please its owner master B. it, unlike many other dogs, always wanted its master to please it C. it was more intelligent than many other dogs D. it was the most faithful dog of his friend’s 47. Attitude is an internal(内在的)state that influences the choices of personal action made by the individual(个人). Some researchers consider that attitudes come from differences between beliefs and ideas; others believe that attitudes come from emotional states. Here, we focus on the effects of attitudes upon behavior, that is, upon the choices of action made by the individual. The kinds of actions taken by human beings are obviously influenced greatly by attitudes. Whether one listens to classical music or rock, whether one obeys the speed limit while driving, whether one encourages one’s husband or wife to express his or her own ideas-all are influenced by attitudes. These internal states are acquired(获得) throughout life from situations one is faced with in the home, in the streets, and in the school. Of course, the course of action chosen by an individual in any situation will be largely determined by the particulars of that situation. An individual who has a strong attitude of obeying laws may drive too fast when he is in a hurry and no police cars in sight. A child who has a strong attitude of honesty may steal a penny when she thinks no one will notice, But the internal state which remains unchanged over a period of time, and which makes the individual behave regularly in a variety of situations, is what is meant by an attitude. Attitudes are learned in a variety of ways. They can result from single incidents, as when an attitude toward snakes is acquired by an experience in childhood at the sudden movement of a snake. They can result from the individual’s experiences of success and pleasure, as when someone acquires a positive attitude toward doing crossword puzzles by being able to complete some of them, And frequently, they are learned by copying other people’s behavior, as when a child learns how to behave toward foreigners by observing the actions of his parents. Regardless of these differences, there is something in common in the learning and modification(修正)of attitudes. 56. The word “state”(in Line 1) has the similar meaning to___________. A. a mental or emotional condition. B. a condition of being in a stage or form. C. social position or rank. D. a specific mode of government. 57. According to the passage, attitudes __________. A. come from different situations in one’s life B. are largely affected by one’s behavior C. remain unchanged in one’s daily life D. could be chosen according to one’s will 58. The author uses the examples in Paragraph 3 to show A. people often make mistakes when they are not noticed B. people with good attitudes may sometimes do bad deeds C. particulars of a situation may influence an individual’s action D. an individual may change his or her attitude fairly easily 59. Which of the following is TRUE about the learning of attitudes? A. Attitudes are only learned through one’s success. B. Attitudes learned in danger will last longer. C. Copying others behavior is not a good idea. D. Attitudes can be learned from one’s parents. 60. What would be the best title for the passage? A. Differences of Attitudes. B. Nature of Attitude. C. Choices of Attitudes. D. Modification of Attitude. A. There used to be many green trees and all kinds of flowers in our school all the year round. It looked like a beautiful garden and was a nice place for us to study in, but everything has changed since the chemical factory was built near our school a year ago. Every day it produces a lot of waste water and harmful gases. The terrible pollution has done great harm to our health and the great noise from the factory has greatly affected our teaching studying activities. We all expect your factory leaders can take actions to stop this pollution and return us a clean and clear studying environment. Thank you very much. Yours truly, Li Ping (二) Whether students who study inside the campus can get a part-time job or not is a topic which is being discussed by students ourselves. Some of us are in favor of it with several reasons, such as bringing students some economic supporting and enabling students to realize the hardship of their parents. Some of us don’t agree with it for a few reasons such as wasting time for study. In my opinion, one can get a part-time job on condition that it doesn’t affect his normal study in the daytime. In fact, its good effects should be more that the side ones. However, students who get a part-job should control the time for it as well as pay attention to their safety when they go to work. Besides, they should spend their income from the part-time job reasonably.
