Mr. Liu was born in 1951 in Shanghai. He graduated from Communication University of China (formerly as Beijing Broadcasting Institute) in the early 1980s, and joined the China Central People’s Radio Station, with which he has held the positions of reporter, editor, news commentator and senior management. In 1996, Mr. Liu founded Phoenix Satellite Television Company Limited (“Phoenix Satellite TV”), which held an IPO on the Hong Kong Growth Enterprise Market in 2000, and has five TV channels, namely Phoenix Chinese; Phoenix InfoNews; Phoenix Chinese News；Phoenix North America Chinese and Phoenix Movies, and is a powerful Chinese Channel, which covers 146 countries and regions, and dedicates to promote a free flow of information and entertainment within the Greater China region. Mr. Liu is a Member of the Tenth National Committee of Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, a Justice of the Peace by the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and also a member of the International Board of the US National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. He is a honorary doctoral degree by City University of Hong Kong, an honorary visiting professor at the Communication University of China, at Tianjin’s Nankai University and at Guangzhou’s SUN YAT_SEN University.

刘先生1951年生于上海，80年代毕业于中国传媒大学，曾任中国中央人民广播电台记者及高级管理人员。一九九六年，刘先生创立凤凰卫视有限公司。该公司于2000年在香港创业板上市，现拥有中文台、信息台、欧洲台、美洲台、电影台五个频道，成为覆盖世界146个国家和地区、致力于拉近全球华人距离的有影响力的华语电视台。刘先生是中国全国政协委员、香港太平绅士、美国国家电视艺术科学院国际董事会理事。是香港城市大学荣誉博士，中国传媒大学、中山大学、南开大学客座教授。
